the christmas finale was our trip to arizona to celebrate with my dad’s side of the family. we all stayed together at my dad and stepmom’s house in desert mountain (about 16 of us i think!). desert mountain is a golf community in northern scottsdale and it is amazingly beautiful. my dad and stepmom have been there for about ten years, and tony and i take every opportunity we can to visit.
their house is. everything.
lots of time in the hot tub on this trip! arizona was much colder than anticipated. as i sit here in minnesota writing this (where it is -6 out), i hate the fact that i ever thought arizona was cold!
my stepbrother ty (who is pretty much an expert rock climber) brought his climbing gear so that our family could (attempt) to do some climbing. we hiked tom’s thumb to a very large rock that ty had scouted out for us to climb. tony and i chickened out as it looked completely terrifying, but check out my super brave family!
here we are observing (and not participating in) the rock climbing. i was trying to get my sun on. i cant get over my crazy family scaling the side of a mountain.
my version of rock climbing.
tony and i played tennis one day. i beat him three times in a row. he won’t admit that he was letting me win. i have the best husband you guys.
me and some of the fam did a long (probably 3 hour) hike in desert mountain while most of the guys played golf. the views you guys.
on new year’s eve tony and i planned a little date. we wanted to get away and spend some time alone (we love the fact that we are totally still dating). first we went to in-n-out burger. obviously. then he and i each picked two activities. he picked going to the talking stick casino and going to the arizona coyotes game. i picked going shopping and going out to a nice dinner.
most of my family left before new years, so me and tony got to spend 3 or 4 days with just my dad and stepmom. it was really nice as we don’t get to do that very often. i’m not going to lie, we binge-watched all 10 episodes of making a murderer in those few days. we were obsessed. if you haven’t watched yet, go watch it now!
thanks to my dad and stepmom joni for such an amazing week!
