this weekend we had a party for the kentucky derby! tony kept calling it our “first annual derby party” so i think we may be having one every year! we requested everyone “dress to impress” in their finest derby attire (big hats encouraged!). our friends really got into it. so did we. tony pulled out his seer sucker suit, and the hat i am wearing i’ve had since i was six years old! to make it even more fun, tony and i setup a horse wagering board for our friends to bet on the horses. because the favorite ended up winning the race, we had to split the pot six ways. still fun though! i wanted to keep the drinks true to the derby, so i made a pitcher of mint juleps. it was surprisingly easy and i didn’t have to play bartender at all. i also went southern with the food and did bourbon meatballs, grits, and benedictine spread. overall it was a great time and i am looking forward to next time!
tony is more of a beer drinker, here he is getting the party started!
ella in on the fun!
