christmas is our favorite time of the year. we would normally spend all of december doing our favorite christmas activities. (so many activities!) unfortunately this year due to both a wedding at disney and a funeral, we were out of town for 2 of the 3 weekends between thanksgiving and christmas. so we did what anyone else would do. fit everything christmas into one weekend. right? we... baked christmas cookies, rang bells for the salvation army, went to the christmas display on the 8th floor ... kurt and elizabeth.
we just spent a few days down at disney for tony’s cousin’s wedding. both the bride and groom absolutely love disney and it was their dream to get married there. i have to admit, the more weddings i go to, the more they all start to blend together. not this one. there is no way we will forget this one. the wedding guests all stayed at disney's pop century resort. this is one of the budget-friendly hotels at disney. it definitely wasn't as fancy as some of the other disney resorts, ... deck the halls.
we got an 8 foot tree. we have 11 foot ceilings. this should have worked out. the place we decided to put our tree (in front of the window) has this air duct that hangs down a couple feet (loft life). tony had to do some trimming to the top. next year we might not go as grand with the size of the tree. and next year we might be able to actually have a tree topper. my secret santa last year (my amazing sister-in-law jess) got us this cute tree skirt last year for christmas. it was so fun ... oh christmas tree oh christmas tree.
tony and i love a real tree. we love the entire process. we love going to the tree farm, searching for the perfect one, cutting it down, pulling it on a sled, and getting it home. i also can't get enough of the smell. last year we we went to krueger's christmas trees and we thought it was kind of awesome so we went back. i noticed last year that krueger’s was dog-friendly, so i filed that away and made sure to bring ella this year. she had an absolute blast. i think she wishes we lived on ... a snowy thanksgiving.
we had thanksgiving with my family on thanksgiving day. it was small but special. my mom and i made all of the food. my mom did the big items (turkey, stuffing, mashed potatoes, gravy) and I filled in with green beans and carrots. we also each made a dessert. one pumpkin and one apple. we spent a lot of the day playing outside in the snow. i cannot believe we had snow on thanksgiving. we have had an unseasonably warm fall and would never have thought we would get a white thanksgiving. the ... we got married young. a lot of people don’t get it. they feel like getting married at 25 is a lot like leaving the party at 10, but it was the right decision for us. i never thought i would have gotten married in my twenties. i had all of these things i wanted to do, and places i wanted to go, and how could i ever do that married?! guess what… you can. and it has been so rewarding to share these memories with my husband. i know it’s the not the right decision for everyone, but i thought i would ...
