we went to tulum on our honeymoon (see post here!) we fell in love with the laidback hippie vibe immediately and knew we wanted to buy something to remember the trip. we found this art that a local family had made out of tree bark. we looked at dozens and dozens of these squares, and finally decided on five that we wanted to bring home. in the shop, the family had the squares displayed on a simple canvas, so we decided to recreate that look. i can't we've been back for almost eight months and ... 26 is going to be sweet.
happy birthday to me! february 13th was my 26th birthday but we've been celebrating for about two weeks (of course!) tony is constantly amazed at how i stretch my birthday out so far. in my mind, i don't see how you can't. we had one day with tony's family, one day with my mom, had dinner with friends, and of course we celebrated just the two of us (that can't be done all in one day, right?!) tony's mom threw me a birthday party with an "alissa blu" theme. the party was mainly ... hope you all had a good valentine's day! we celebrated by staying home this year. we went out so much for birthday related activities that both of us were like, let's just stay home. we got a fondue set for our wedding and have yet to use it (isn't that the story with so many wedding gifts!) we decided to put it to use and did cheese and chocolate fondue and omg it was delicious. so, valentine's day is kind of cheesy right? so in the spirit of the holiday, tony and i wore these matching ... life in the loop.
this weekend we had nothing on the calendar (!!) and the weather was above freezing (!!) so we got out of the house and enjoyed our neighborhood a bit. we also wanted to get ella out so she could get some exercise. that girl has put on some serious lbs this winter. it's mostly our fault as it's been so cold and we don't want to walk outside (LOL). but as it was so nice this weekend, we took her on a walk over to northeast minneapolis and then back downtown on the stone arch bridge. she is kind ...
