fall is my very favorite season in minnesota, and i love to spend as much time outdoors as possible. i also love activities that we can do that include our beloved fur baby ella. last fall we went out to aamodt's apple farm and i made a mental note to bring ella next time as they are dog-friendly! so on sunday, we made the trip out from the city. we were a little late in the game this year due to traveling and weddings, but i couldn't let the colder weather get here without getting to the apple ... boston!
we recently got back from boston and it has become one of our very favorite cities. i am obsessed with colonial houses (and new england buildings in general). tony is a total u.s. history buff. we both really love food (cannoli anyone?). needless to say, boston pretty much hit it out of the park (pun intended, we did go to fenway. more on that later). we spent the bulk of our first day in boston walking the freedom trail. the freedom trail is a few mile long brick path through boston that has ... jamestown, rhode island!
my friend carly got married in jamestown, rhode island over labor day weekend. tony i and were so thrilled to join her there for her big day! jamestown is a small little town on conanicut island, which is the second largest island in narragansett bay (essentially we were off the coast of rhode island). tony and i have never been to this part of the country before, and didn't know what to expect, but we absolutely loved it! carly and her (now) husband jacob got engaged here, a place where jacob ... how did i do on the summer bucket list?
now that labor day has come and gone and the state fair is over, we know that summer has really come to an end. at the beginning of the summer i created a summer bucket list of the ten things i wanted to do before labor day. click here to see all of the activities! overall, we did pretty well. we managed to get 9 out of 10 items checked off the list. with more time spent on traveling and weddings than i thought, we ran out of time. doesn't summer always fly by way quicker than you think? the one ... boom island park.
the other night we took ella to boom island park for a little picnic and some play time. we are cherishing every second left of summer! i threw on this top and shorts that i got at arc's value village recently and packed up a picnic in the backpack that i got at arc's too. the top was only $4.99 and the shorts were only $6.99! the shorts are one of my favorite things i have gotten this summer because of their length. it is just me or is it so hard to find age appropriate shorts for a 26 year ... state fair date!
the minnesota state fair is back! going to the fair is one of the highlights of our year (not kidding) and this year we even took a day off work for it! (you can see our day at the fair last year here!) for the past four years (i think?) tony and i have gone to the fair just the two of us, and so that is now a tradition of ours. we usually go more than once (should i be embarassed about that?) but we make sure that one of the days we go just us two! besides eating a lot, tony and i have a few ...
