Tips on How to Transition a Dress into Fall
Because the weather has been so nice this September, I have found myself still buying a few dresses! I bought this black tank dress (just $14!) late in the Summer and I’ve really been enjoying wearing it on these hot Summer nights we’ve had recently. But the main reason I bought this dress, is that because of its length (midi) and its versatility, I knew it would be a great Summer dress to wear into Fall. There are several different ways to transition a dress into Fall, so don’t feel guilty buying a few dresses here and there in September! Here is one of my favorite Fall transition outfits that I have put together recently.
Booties
Instead of wearing sandals, grab a pair of booties instead. This is probably the easiest substitution you can make to your wardrobe because boots immediately scream Fall. Adding booties instead of sandals to a dress instantly says that I’m ready for Fall and I may just be on the way to the apple orchard.
Jackets, Jackets, Jackets
Experiment with adding a jacket over your dresses. I love my over-sized denim boyfriend jacket (similar here), and I also wear a suede jacket all the time. You can wear jackets just on the shoulders like I did for a more ‘Summery’ feel or all the way on for cooler temps. I have a black motorcycle jacket that I wear often as well (when I’m feeling edgy… ha!) I found a really affordable one here.
Scarf Obsession
I wear scarves ALL THE TIME. I particularly love square silk scarves because they can be worn in warm weather too (I did a post here with tons of ways to wear them!) When adding a scarf during this transition time, make sure it’s light (nothing super warm and cozy yet!) I love this scarf, it comes in tons and tons of colors and is just $7. I think it is so cute tied around your neck.
Keep Something Bare
This is more of a general tip, but when figuring out how to transition into Fall, it’s best to keep at least something bare. If you are planning to wear knee high or over-the-knee boots, I would keep your top still bare (skip the jacket). If you are adding a jacket or cardigan, I would keep the legs bare.
