as i mentioned in an early post, june 13th was our first wedding anniversary! unfortunately our anniversary fell on a monday, so we decided to celebrate the day before. we decided on dinner at spoon and stable, which is our very favorite restaurant (and right in our neighborhood!) it can be hard for me and tony to agree on restaurant spots. i like what tony would call “frou-frou” food. small plates, fancy, unusual ingredients, etc. tony likes more simple food. somehow we can agree on spoon and stable. i like to try something new and different (the halibut i ordered was life-changing), and tony always gets the same pasta, potatoes, and creamed spinach with cheese curds. yes. cheese curds! i think the cheese curds are the main reason we agree on this restaurant.
before dinner we enjoyed a bottle of dom perignon champagne! my mom got this for us as an engagement gift and no occasion ever seemed special enough for us to pop it. we thought our first wedding anniversary was the perfect night (not to mention, champagne doesn’t last forever so i knew we needed to pull the trigger soon). i love champagne (all kinds, i don’t discrimiante), but this champagne is really perfect!
i love tony in a wedding ring. i find myself sneaking glimpses of it all the time!
i got the peonies at the farmer’s market that morning. they weren’t that great looking, but i wanted to have some for our anniversary because they are my favorite and also the kind that i had in my bouquet. peonies are only in season here for three weeks, so you have to grab them while you can! i’m not going to lie, we picked our wedding date a little bit around the fact that peonies were in season. not embarassed at all by that.
this is the purse that i used on our wedding day. it was originally my “something borrowed” from tony’s mom but she recently just gifted it to me. it was special to carry this again on our anniversary. maybe i should make that a tradition!
as you may or may not know, the traditional first wedding anniversary gift is paper. we decided to gift each other plane tickets and headed on vacation last week! i was laughing as we were both using the electronic boarding passes on our phone, but kept thinking, that’s still paper, right? stay tuned for posts of our big trip!
