we saw this graffiti when we were walking the river walk this weekend. smile, life is not that bad. tony and i both really loved that. in life, its easy to get mad. frustrated. stressed out. sad. i think tony and i needed that reminder this weekend. because you know what? life is pretty great. the weather was beautiful again this weekend (i can't believe it!) and we were outside in the neighborhood a ton. we love going on walks just the two of us (three of us with ella of ... weekend recap.
tony was in vegas this weekend for a bachelor party and i had a little "stag" weekend at home. ella and i had the place to ourselves and it was glorious (of course we missed tony a lot too). i took the weekend to run a lot of errands, get some things done around the house, and do some baking. it was in the 50's for most of the weekend, so ella and i did a lot of walking around the north loop and northeast. i'm not going to lie, we also watched a lot of shows. mainly the shows that tony hates ... birds of a feather rock chalk together.
over the weekend we were in lawrence, kansas (my hometown!) to visit my family. tony and i jump at any opportunity to go down there and see my dad and stepmom (especially when it involves a ku basketball game). we sat in my dad's seats in the second row (!) which are right behind the espn announcers. knowing we could get some free advertising on espn, we had schrank law t-shirts printed at acme, a local t-shirt shop. the jayhawks won (rock chalk!) and are now big 12 champions for the TWELFTH ... minnesota winter.
i know this sounds crazy, but we actually really love the winters in minnesota. if we feel like going out and braving the cold, there are endless fun things for us to do. tony's favorite activity is skating at one of the outdoor rinks and ella just goes nuts playing in the snow. and me? i love how the city looks in the snow and i love walking around our neighborhood and just looking at it (that sounded kind of silly when i read it out loud, but when it snows our city is just so beautiful!) the ... donut you know how much i love you?
in case you missed it from our wedding, we actually served donuts instead of cake to our wedding guests (we really love donuts!) side note: i highly recommend this to anyone getting married because it was a total hit and doubled as a favor! but anyway, we usually go to angel food when we want donuts (they made the donuts for our wedding) but on sunday i decided to trying making some myself. we got the pans as a wedding gift, and of course it has taken us this long to use them (same story with ... we’ll never forget you tulum.
we went to tulum on our honeymoon (see post here!) we fell in love with the laidback hippie vibe immediately and knew we wanted to buy something to remember the trip. we found this art that a local family had made out of tree bark. we looked at dozens and dozens of these squares, and finally decided on five that we wanted to bring home. in the shop, the family had the squares displayed on a simple canvas, so we decided to recreate that look. i can't we've been back for almost eight months and ...
