This is my first 'Minneapolis Monthly' that isn't actually in Minneapolis, but I think I'm okay with that. I will keep it to the metro area, how about that? Bellecour, the darling of Downtown Wayzata, is the French restaurant by my favorite Minneapolis chef, Gavin Kaysen. Gavin has won multiple awards (including a James Beard) and is one of Minneapolis' finest for sure. He came to my work recently (we bring in interesting speakers every once in awhile) and I realized it had been a while since I ... View the Post
Minneapolis Monthly: St. Genevieve
St. Genevieve, located at 50th and Bryant, is led by chef/owner Steve Brown (who is also the chef behind Tilia). It’s a Parisian-style restaurant, or buvette (if you’re feeling French). They serve brunch, lunch, and dinner and have a really good happy hour too. My favorites on the menu are the mussels and the frites. Blanched in water and fried twice, these frites are the best fries ever! They are very well known for their tartines (open-face sandwiches), like the tartine madame pictured. Most ... View the Post
Minneapolis Monthly: Fairgrounds Coffee
Fairgrounds Coffee recently opened in the North Loop and this is exactly what we have been missing in our neighborhood. We have been needing quick-service restaurant where we can get quick sandwiches, a quick breakfast, etc. Don't get me wrong, we love the restaurants in our neighborhood (we have some amazing restaurants!) but there aren't many that you can get in-and-out in 20 minutes and for $10. Tony and I stopped in here one weekend morning and it was hopping! The North Loop is pretty dead ... View the Post
Minneapolis Monthly: Black Sheep Pizza (Barstool Sports Approved!)
Our favorite pizza place in Minneapolis? Black Sheep Pizza right in the North Loop. Black Sheep Pizza was the first coal-burning pizza restaurant in Minnesota. They seek to honor the craft of coal burning pizza by using clean burning Anthracite coal and the best ingredients possible. They have three Twin Cities locations: North Loop, St. Paul, and Eat Street. If you’re familiar with Barstool Sports pizza reviews, Dave Portnoy describes this pizza as “cheese dripping like a glacier” and gave ... View the Post
Minneapolis Monthly: The Lynhall
The "June" installment of my Minneapolis Monthly series is The Lynhall. I didn't get around to posting it in June, so here we are! The Lynhall is a darling little cafe in South Minneapolis. Owner Annie Spaeth, a former lawyer, created not just a restaurant, but a community that connects over food. The is evident in the fact that besides being a restaurant, it's also an event space, kitchen studio, and incubator kitchen. The cafe is a counter-service restaurant and bakery that has ... Minneapolis Monthly: Parallel Coffee
Last month I started a new series called 'Minneapolis Monthly' where monthly I share one of my favorite spots in Minneapolis. You can see last month's post here. This month I chose Parallel Coffee. This coffee shop is new (within the last three months or so) but it's quickly become my absolute favorite. It's on the edge of the North Loop in an area I'm not really sure what to call? When people ask where it is I tell them it's by the Lyndale Farmer's Market and I feel like that's the best ... View the Post
