hello fall! i saw one leaf on the ground and i bought a million new sweaters. is that anyone else? it’s that awkward transition time. that time of year when you want to buy all the fall clothes but it’s too warm to wear them. however, there are items to shop for now that you can wear throughout the fall and winter. i picked 7 key pieces to buy now that will transition into cooler weather. i’m sure you have some of these items in your closet already. but in case you don’t, here are a few of my picks. all photos are shoppable and under $50!
lace camis
a lace cami works now on its own (hello it was 90 degrees here on friday). but also works great under a cardigan for when temps drop a little.
mules
i’ve been wearing my black mules all summer. but i am keeping them in the rotation through the fall. they are closed-toe so they don’t look too summer-y and look great with jeans. mine are only $23.
oversized denim jackets
this is an item currently on my wishlist (still shopping around). i’ve seen girls wearing them over a sundress for cooler evenings. and then this fall layer it over a chunky dress.
cardigan sweaters
cardigans never really go out of style. but this season is all about the duster length. can you believe that is back? looks great over a cami now and later this fall i’m all about layers, layers, layers. forever 21 kind of kills the game in affordable cardigans.
booties
booties look great with dresses and jean shorts while it’s still warm. not to mention they obviously look great with jeans and chunky knits later. have fun with booties this season! it’s all about color, pattern, and texture!
moto jacket
i am eyeing this burgundy one like crazy. super cute over a sundress (similar to the denim jacket) but more dressed up. a leather or suede moto jacket just screams fall to me.
distressed skinny jeans
this one is a no-brainer. skinny jeans have been popular for years. ones with a little distressing are great for fall because they show a little skin. perfect with a tank or tee right now. i have both these (only $11) and these step hem ones too.
what do you think? did i miss anything? what are your tips for transitioning your wardrobe into fall?
