fall is my very favorite season in minnesota, and i love to spend as much time outdoors as possible. i also love activities that we can do that include our beloved fur baby ella. last fall we went out to aamodt’s apple farm and i made a mental note to bring ella next time as they are dog-friendly! so on sunday, we made the trip out from the city. we were a little late in the game this year due to traveling and weddings, but i couldn’t let the colder weather get here without getting to the apple farm. we have been getting crazy rain lately, so the grounds were wet and very muddy (warning if you are bringing a dog!) although some areas were closed off, we still had a pretty large area to do pick your own. anyone else insist on doing pick your own even though they have bags of every kind in the barn? us too. while i was picking, ella was such a good helper! she just wanted to be close to me and try to help me get the apples. it was so cute. tony was doing his best to snap some photos and hold onto ella’s leash, but it was quite the scene sometimes. especially in the mud. another important part of going to aamodts? the donuts! we always get apple cider donuts when we see them. if you read this often, you will know that we love donuts. tony went so far as to say that apple cider donuts are his favorite (more than white cake with white frosting and sprinkles!) tony waited outside with ella while i went in to get our donuts. the best! aamodt’s is next to st. croix vineyards if you want to have a glass of wine. sparkling wine is new this year too! me and ella jn action. thanks for the help girl! she wanted to be next to me so badly. i was traveling for work last week and i think she really missed me. she’s been a mommy’s girl ever since i got back on friday. the fruits of our labor (pun intended!) these apples were literally the most perfect apples! i made this ‘lightened up’ apple crisp with this recipe i found on pinterest. it was so good and you can eat it without feeling the guilt! enjoy! happy fall!
