we left san luis obispo en route to santa barbara, and on the way we stopped in solvang! solvang is known as “the denmark of america.” it was settled by danish immigrants in the early 1900s, and looks literally just like a danish town (windmills, folk dancing, bakeries, you get it). solvang restaurant was nice enough to host tony and i for aebleskiver! solvang is famous for their aebleskiver, which is like a pancake, but formed into a ball. not sure if i am explaining that well, but it is very delicious! you can serve aebleskiver a number of ways, but ours topped with powdered sugar and jam. we were only in solvang for a few hours, but if we were there longer i would have eaten my way straight through that town! there were a number of treats i had my eye on here (think pancakes and lots of chocolate!) we had so much fun walking around solvang, see some of the fun below! the solvang visitor’s bureau arranged our visit to solvang restaurant, who hosted us, but as always, all opinions are my own!
