My darling daughter you are three years old! Three years ago you made me a mom. It feels like just yesterday but also like forever ago. I can’t remember life without you in it (and why would I ever want to?!) You are so funny, incredibly smart, imaginative, happy, curious, strong, and a ball of energy!
I hope I always remember this time with you. I love when you say, “mommy I need you,” or “I miss you mommy.” Oftentimes when we are driving in the car you will say, “mommy I need to hug you” and I tell you how excited I am to hug you as soon as we get out of the car! I love your big hugs and when you wrap your arms around my legs. When I give you a kiss, you tell me that you’re going to keep it forever. Don’t get me wrong, we’ve had our tough times you and me, but we always say sorry, hug it out, and start over again.
The biggest change for you this year is that you became a big sister! You are the sweetest big sister to your brothers. You love them so much and it melts my mama heart. I overhear you saying to them, “it’s okay, rosie is here” or “it’s okay, I know you’re hungry! mommy is pumping you a bottle!” I love that you are their ‘mini mommy’ and help take care of them. Whether that is singing them a song (they love twinkle twinkle), giving them a paci or bottle, or even throwing out a dirty diaper. You refer to them as your twinnies, cutie guys, or baby wabies. I can’t wait to see your bond with them grow. I was so emotional about giving you siblings and how it would change your life and our family, but I see you with your brothers and I know we gave you such a big gift.
You love to hear stories and also tell stories. When you want to hear a story you say “tell me that” and I think I hear that 100 times per day! You are trying to figure the world out and it is so amazing to see. If you don’t understand something, it’s always “why mommy?” or if I say “oh no” or something you always ask, “what’s oh no mommy?” You are so smart, inquisitive, and curious!
Right now you are so girly! You love pink, princesses, and dresses. You like to change dresses about 4 times a day! A lot of times that means changing your hair accessories too. And you are so imaginative! You like to dress up like different princesses and pretend to live in a castle. Sometimes you use your wand to turn me into a frog!
You also love to perform shows for us. I love when you get on your stage (sometimes a step stool, sometimes a box, you name it!) and then tell me to say, “ladies and gentlemen!” That means you are ready to do your show! Some of your favorite songs are from your favorite movies right now: Sing 2, Moana, and Frozen. You have the cutest dance moves. I know you learn some at ballet class, but I think most of the moves are all your own! When you are done with a performance we always say, “bravo! bravo!” and you respond with “thank you! thank you!” and it’s the absolute best part.
You have grown up so much this past year. It feels like you have left your toddler years in the rear view. Last night I hugged my two year old tightly (for the very last time!) and it was so bittersweet. I will miss that little baby girl but I am so excited for you and I love watching you grow. I can’t wait to see the things you will do and the person that you will become. I will be cheering you on the whole way. I love you all the way around the world and back to here Rosie girl. Happy Birthday!
Love,
Mommy
