Choosing names for our twins was very challenging! First, we had to come up with TWO full names (instead of one!) Second, because we chose not to find out genders, we had to have name lists for boy/boy twins, boy/girl twins, and girl/girl twins! It was so difficult to finalize, that we didn’t have the names picked for at least eight hours after they were born. That being said, the twins’ names are very special to us, and here is a little bit about how we chose them!
Theo Charles
We have always thought of Baby B as our “bonus baby” because we had no idea that we would be having twins! Baby B implanted after Baby A, and the fact that a second baby implanted truly felt like a gift from God after trying to get pregnant for so long. Since the beginning, I had a feeling that baby B was a boy. Theo means “gift from God” and so it always felt like the perfect name for Baby B. Of course we didn’t know genders, but we knew that we wanted baby B to be Theo (if baby B were a boy!)
Charles was my great grandpa’s name and it is both my dad and my brother’s middle name. We really liked both Charles and Charlie and were considering those for a first name as well. We also thought about Charlie for a girl name too!
Sonny Wilkerson
We were shocked that baby A was a boy! We thought for sure that baby A was a girl and had a favorite girl name ready to go. Baby A came out first and Tony said, “it’s a boy!” and I was so surprised. Because we thought baby A would be a girl, we really didn’t have another boy name ready. It was another probably 8 hours until we settled on Sonny. Sonny was on our short list of boy names. It’s not a family name and didn’t have a significant meaning to us during my pregnancy. But while we were debating on names, Tony was actually the one who said, well Baby A is our first son so I think it’s fitting that we call him Sonny!
Wilkerson is my maiden name and it became my middle name when Tony and I got married. I always thought that our first son would have my middle/maiden name to sort of pass the name down too. I love that Sonny and I share a middle name too!
