I asked on Instagram what the best purchases are for baby #2, either something you got or something you wish you had gotten! There were two major themes that I noticed when it comes to a baby #2 registry. First, you must have items that you can put the new baby into so that you can care for your older child. This could be lounger, activity center, or bouncer. The other theme I noticed was that some of the pricier items that were not in the budget for the first baby ended up being well worth it when parents invested in it for the second baby. Followers recommended the Snoo bassinet, Doona stroller, bottle sterilizer, Willow pump, and the Baby Brezza Pro!
10 products to put on your baby #2 registry
Bottle Sterilizer and Dryer – If you bottle feed (we are planning to this time around), I think this would be a great investment. I don’t think a bottle sterilizer is particularly groundbreaking, but this item also dries them which is pretty cool! Bottles can take a while to air dry, so this would really speed things up!
Snoo Bassinet – Rosie did not sleep AT ALL as a baby so we did end up renting a Snoo when she was a newborn. I wrote a full review of the product here. In short, I think this is worth it if you have a baby that doesn’t sleep. But if you have a pretty good sleeper, I think save your money!
Doona Car Seat / Stroller – This is an item that I’m not totally onboard with? It’s essentially a car seat that transforms into a stroller. I get this for your first baby maybe? But if you have an older kid, this stroller doesn’t accommodate more than one kid? Also, it doesn’t fit them for very long, so you can’t use it into the toddler years? For the price it just doesn’t feel like a worthwhile investment for me! .
Electric Baby Nail File – I definitely want to get this for our twins (only $22!) When Rosie was a baby, I filed her nails with a nail file (or just bit them off honestly) but this thing looks great! I also think for twins (that’s 40 nails!) it will be worth it to have an electric version.
Willow Breast Pump – This wearable breast pump is EXPENSIVE but I completely understand how moms would love this. How nice to be able to pump on the go and do it discreetly? The reviews for the product are kind of mixed, so I would read through the comments and decide for yourself. The biggest cons seem to be the error messages, the lack of suction (compared to a regular pump), and then also that it can’t fit that much milk.
Snuggle Me Organic Lounger (or other similar product) – I think a lounger like this is a must whether this is your first baby or second. We have the Dockatot (which is similar) and we plan to use this for our twins as well. A lounger is great for naps or just lounging. Some parents will use this for overnight sleep as well (disclaimer: this product is not approved for that, consult a pediatrician).
Activity Center (or other similar product) – An activity center or activity chair (or similar) seems like a must for a second baby. This seems like a great product to keep new baby busy and happy while tending to your older child. We have a similar product and I remember Rosie really loving it starting at about 5 months.
Baby Brezza Pro – This item is HIGH on my list. It’s a formula dispenser that (basically a Keurig for formula!) If you are bottle feeding with formula, this product seems well worth the investment. That being said, I have heard that it doesn’t dispense the formula consistently? Babies could be getting too much or too little? This is something I plan to discuss with the pediatrician.
Baby Bjorn Bouncer (or other similar product) – We LOVE this bouncer. First, it’s a great place to put baby, but it’s also light and portable so you can move it around the house. I used to carry it up to our bathroom and put Rosie in this while I showered. I would definitely get something like this to have somewhere to put the new baby while with your older child.
Diono Radian Car Seat – This car seat is significantly smaller than most convertible car seats. With a car seat like this, you can fit three across a backseat (if you have three kids). I didn’t know something like this was an option when we bought a convertible car seat for Rosie. Now that we will have three in car seats, I wish I would have purchased this the first time around.
