Last weekend we had a Minnie Mouse Birthday Party for our Rosie’s second birthday! Rosie LOVES Minnie, so I knew that this would be the perfect theme for her party. I saw numerous parties on Pinterest with the ‘Oh Twodles’ tagline (which I thought that was so cute and clever), and so I based the whole party around that. I love to find my inspiration first, whether that be a phrase, napkin, book, etc. and let that be the starting point for the party. I ordered some of the decorations online, and then I did some DIYs too. I’m not crazy about the Minnie character stuff, so I did a lot of the Mickey/Minnie silhouette, and a lot of pink and polka dots!
Minnie Mouse Invitations
The first decision I made was the invite! I found this invite on Etsy and loved the subtle Minnie, muted colors, etc. I really didn’t change a thing about the invite I loved it so much. It’s only $4 to download, and then I printed on Vistaprint. I put the location as ‘Rosie’s Clubhouse’ and I was thinking about ‘Rosie’s Bow Boutique’ too. Either would be cute options!
Minnie Mouse Dress
I saw the dress Rosie is wearing on Pinterest and it took me so long to figure out how to buy it (drives me crazy when Pinterest has no sources!) The dress was one of my favorite parts about the whole party. I didn’t want Rosie to look like she was wearing a costume and this dress was so sweet and perfect. It was only $9!
Minnie Mouse Decorations
I made this giant Minnie DIY which turned out so cute! I made it with three hula hoops (one large and two small). I spray painted them black and then attached them together with black electrical tape. At the last minute, I ordered this rose swag to hang on the Minnie as a bow. I went back and forth on how I could make a bow, but ultimately decided to use florals as a little nod to the birthday girl Rosie!
I made the balloon garland with this kit (all of the balloons except the hot pink color). This ballon pump was a LIFE SAVER. I highly recommend buying this $25 pump if you are doing balloon decor. I opted to use fishing line instead of the tools that were provided (I followed this tutorial exactly!)
Here is a closer look at the DIY Minnie. The swag is hung on the Minnie with clear fishing line and I also attached the Minnie to the backdrop with clear fishing line.
My mother-in-law and sister-in-law came in clutch with the Cricut to make the ‘Welcome to Rosie’s Clubhouse’ poster. I had it hanging on the fence out by our pool and it was the first thing everybody saw!
These balloons were my favorite thing I bought! I hung them on fishing line and put them on a wall inside. I ordered this as a set, but you could easily find the letters individually and make your own phrase. I loved the rose gold color as well. The Mickey balloon a HUGE hit with Rosie. She is still carrying that thing around!
Minnie Mouse Favors
I made all of the kids favor bags to take home. I cut out a Minnie shape (just free-handed it!) and added a bow (that they can actually use too!) We filled the bags with Minnie and Mickey things from the dollar store.
We’ve got ears, say cheers! You can’t have a Minnie Mouse birthday party without ears of course. I ordered these ears and had them on a table near the entrance to the party. It was fun for everyone to wear during the party, and I think some people took them home too!
Minnie Mouse Food and Drinks
One of the highlights of the party was that we had a hot dog stand! The Dog Park in Chanhassen did a wonderful job and we were so impressed! I didn’t get a great photo of it, but here is a photo that the owner of the Dog Park took.
My mom made the cookies (per usual!) and they were beautiful! The sugar cookies were so delicious, and I loved that the chocolate Oreos were the perfect Minnie color. This photo was from the box of leftovers that we’ve been enjoying for the last 5 days, yum!
Nothing Bundt Cakes in Minnetonka provided the cake and it was spectacular! I loved how the chocolate and white icing was perfect for the Minnie theme. I stuck ears in the top (the same ones as above). It turned out so so cute!
