I’ve been trying to get a little creative when it comes to Summer activities for Rosie. When you’ve been quarantined inside for 3 months, it’s time to get out! Here is a list of 12 Summer activities for Minnesota families. Most of these are our personal recommendations, but I got a few from followers as well. What are some of the Summer activities you have been doing with your little ones?
– Walk the Arboretum: There is no better time to buy a membership to the Arboretum. You can walk and easily stay distanced from everyone.
– Splash pads: This splash pad in Delano is reservation only, and the reservations are for 45 minutes with only a few groups allowed at a time.
– Pool time: We are lucky that our new house has a pool (and Rosie loves to swim!) but it’s just as fun for a baby to sit in a little kiddie pool. Grab one for the deck or the backyard.
– Gale Woods Farm: This farm has lots of trails you can walk and the animals are all right on the trail. The barns, bathrooms, etc. are all closed, but it’s fun to walk the trail.
– Farmer’s Markets: The Farmer’s Market in our city is open with a few new rules. Check out your local market and see what restrictions they have.
– Beach Day: The beaches are open and as long as you keep a safe distance, this can be fun for kids of all ages. Remember to pack at the gear! You’ll need an umbrella, sunscreen, snacks, etc! See my Summer favorites here.
– Berry Picking: We went and picked strawberries last week and it was a lot of fun. We went to this farm in Waconia. Strawberries are in season now and I think raspberries will be soon.
– Boating: We love to take our boat out and we’re getting better at doing it with a baby. She doesn’t love her life jacket and keeping her in the shade is difficult, but we’re learning! Try this life jacket if you’re in the market!
– Have a Picnic: This is fun even in your own yard! If you’ve been eating a few too many meals in front of the tv, pack up lunch or dinner and find a shady spot in your yard.
– Go for Ice Cream: The ice cream shop near us only lets in one group at a time. We order and then sit on a blanket in the grass nearby and enjoy.
– Play in the Park: Not everyone is comfortable with this one, but bring the Clorox wipes and enjoy the swings or slide. The morning seems to be pretty empty at the park near our house.
– Go for a bike ride: I am really excited about taking Rosie for bike rides! I just got a bike and I am going to get her this baby bike seat and a little helmet!
