Rosie is 10 months old! How is our baby close to one year old?! It seems like just yesterday we were just welcoming her into the world. Time is literally flying by and I am really trying to remember every single detail of our time right now. I never want to forget the way she screams so loud, how she flaps her arms when she is excited, how she claps and then immediately waves, her wet open-mouthed kisses, what her little hands feel like when they touch my back, how she reads herself a book, the way she looks at every single blade of grass, or the way she will still fall asleep in my arms.
Rosie is sweet, funny, fiercely independent, spunky, and so smart. She picks up on everything and I am amazed at what she knows and understands. Her personality has really come out these last few months. She has always been a happy baby (and she still is!) but now she really lets me know when she’s upset. She has a fit when I take something away from her!
I intended to do a 9 month update, but with the corona virus pandemic, I couldn’t get any 9 month photos until last week! My friend Mackenzie Orth took these photos and they turned out so cute (and Rosie is now 10 months!)
Here is all about Rosie at 10 months!

ROSIE’S SCHEDULE:
Obviously every day with an infant is different, but here would be the goal schedule for us right now.
- 7:00 – wakeup, breastfeed, and bottle
- 10:00 – breastfeed then nap
- 12:00 – wakeup, lunch, and bottle
- 3:00 – breastfeed and nap
- 4:30 – wakeup, snack, and bottle
- 6:30 – dinner
- 7:30 – breastfeed, bottle, and bedtime
Her wake windows are around 3 hours at a time (7-10, 12-3, and 4:30-7:30). It can sometimes be a struggle to keep her busy for 3 hours! I try to think of each of the three wake windows separately.
First wake window:
Rosie does not eat any solids during this wake window, mainly because I do not like to eat breakfast. Rosie basically eats when I eat and what I eat. During the morning I like to get all of my to-do list done and she will just tag along with me. I will do laundry, clean the kitchen, make the bed, etc. and she crawls around and watches me. I always have my eye on her and keep her busy with hangers, socks, boxes, and whatever else is around!
Second wake window:
I always feed Rosie lunch right when she gets up (and this takes up about 45 minutes!) After lunch we have been doing something outside! We will go on an hour walk in the stroller, swing in her swing, swim in the pool, crawl in the grass, etc. I have been working on the yard and I will just wheel her stroller down into the yard and she loves watching me.
Third wake window:
This wake window is the easiest and hardest. It is easy because she eats a snack right when she gets up from her nap and she also eats dinner. All of the eating takes at least an hour of this time. Also, Tony is available to help for a lot of this wake window. He will play with her downstairs in the basement and we also put her in her play pen downstairs if we want to watch tv! It is a hard wake window because its “witching hour” and she gets cranky!
ROSIE’S FOOD:
We have done baby-led weaning since Rosie was 6 months old. She has now had 60 different foods. We are shooting for 100 foods by her first birthday. There is quite a lot of information out there on baby-led weaning, do a quick Google! Rosie pretty much eats anything, but she especially loves fish, chicken, avocadoes, yogurt, eggs, and beef. She will eat vegetables pretty well, especially cucumbers and tomatoes. Rosie doesn’t really like to eat fruit, but eats strawberries and raspberries pretty well. One tip is to spread things they don’t like on toast. Rosie loves bread so she will eat anything if it’s spread on a piece of toasted bread. I spread banana, raspberries, etc.
One little hiccup in her BLW journey is that we found she is allergic to sesame. I gave her hummus for the first time and she hived right up. My advice for giving them allergens is to make sure the first exposure is during the day. If there is an issue, the doctor’s office will be open. Also, always have Benadryl handy.
PRODUCTS FOR 10 MONTHS OLD:
See my posts for the products she loved when she was a newborn, 3 months, and 6 months.
HERE ARE SOME OF HER FAVORITE THINGS RIGHT NOW:
Sleep Sack – This is the sleep sack we use for Rosie most nights. It is a light muslin fabric so that she doesn’t get too hot. She wears long-sleeved footed pajamas under this.
Water Cup – Rosie could not figure out how to drink out of a straw until these bear bottles. They are literally magic! She figured this out the first time I gave it to her. I have also given her smoothies in here as well.
Her Favorite Book – This is her absolute favorite book. She reads it to herself while in her play pen. It’s the cutest thing. This particular version has a puppet cow in it which she loves to touch and play with.
Our Stroller – I am certain that I’ve posted about this a dozen times, but we truly love our stroller. Since the 6 month post we have started using the rumble seat (or big girl seat as we call it). I try to take Rosie on at least an hour walk every day.
Swing – I recently ordered this swing on Etsy and it’s been a success so far. I ordered it with both of the pillows and they are not necessary (so don’t waste your money). We hung it from our deck and it’s really nice if we want to eat outside or hang out outside and she can chill too.
Play Pen – The best purchase ever for a 10 month old! We used to keep her trapped in the pack n’ play but it was getting small for her and she couldn’t crawl around. We set this up in the basement and she loves it! She has toys and books and all kinds of fun stuff in there.
Sit and Play Zebra – Rosie is starting to get interested in walking a bit, so I grabbed this “sit and play” thing for her to practice with. She hasn’t figured out pushing it but she likes to sit there and play with all of the buttons and everything.
Avocado guitar – Rosie’s godparents bought her this and she loves it! If she is hysterically crying, just hit a button on the guitar and she will cheer right up. The music can get a little annoying, so I like to rotate this guitar out on occasion!
Dimpl toy – Rosie’s godparents also bought her this and Rosie is very into trying to figure this out. I keep it in the car and she stays really busy (and quiet) while we are driving. This toy is also supposed to be really good for their brains!
