Happy Wednesday! I haven’t posted about work wear in a while, so I thought, what better occasion than a #workwearwednesday post! I’ve posted a lot of pregnancy looks over the course of the past 9 months, but I haven’t posted much that I would consider professional. As many of you know, I work in corporate finance. Our dress code is ‘dress for your day,’ and I typically wear a ruched dress (which I have been posting a lot of) and a jean jacket or cardigan. But on occasion, I do have to dress up! I got this leopard maternity dress from Pink Blush. I have been wearing their dresses a lot during pregnancy. They fit me really well, and in general, just look a little more polished than some of my other pregnancy items. Why does this dress work so well? Let’s dig in!
Why This Dress Works
The Fit and Quality
The fit of this dress for me is perfect. I prefer my pregnancy clothes to be fitted. I feel more confident and I also feel like it’s more flattering. In a work environment, I want to look and feel my best! I also just love to show off the bump! I also love that this dress has pockets. It’s little details like that that really make it special.
It’s a Neutral Print
Why do so many pregnant women wear dresses that are head-to-toe floral? I would stick to neutrals if you are going to do a print. I think that large prints (especially in colors) make you look bigger. And not in a cute bump kind of way.
It’s Versatile
I loved the possibility of wearing it to a more formal meeting at work, but knowing that I could dress it down with sandals or dress it up even more for a wedding or party or something. The ruched dresses I’ve been wearing are not as formal as this dress and do not work for when you need to be more dressy.
This Dress Is Just “Me”
I also just love that this dress looks like me. It’s important to wear clothes during pregnancy that look and feel like you. In the beginning of my pregnancy (when I was super excited!) I went to the mall and bought maternity clothes from one of those maternity stores and they don’t look like me! Pretty soon I discovered Pink Blush and realized there was a whole site full of maternity clothes for women like me!
Tips on Styling
I styled this leopard maternity dress pretty simply for this post (just heels and a cross body bag (similar here), but there are so many ways to style this for work. I thought I would share some tips!
Add a Blazer or Cardigan
A blazer or nice cardigan can instantly make an outfit more polished and professional. I would highly recommend this option if pregnant in the Winter. During the Summer it’s easy to get away with just a dress.
Heels or Flats Will Work
I’ve been wearing heels consistently throughout pregnancy, but I understand that not everyone wants to do that. These heels are super low and comfortable though! Now that it’s really hot, I haven’t been wearing heels much. A great pair of heels or flats look equally as professional.
Add Some Accessories
Feeling good about your body and your outfit during pregnancy is tough, but accessories help and can make you look more polished and more dressed up. Right now I am loving this pearl headband and these hair clips.
