Because so many of you are Northern girls, and because here in Minnesota we have Winter for at least 3 more months, I thought I would (from time to time) share some of my favorite Winter items! Let’s start with the Cocoon Coat from J. Crew Factory.
I’ve had this coat for a little over a year (I got it for Christmas last year) and it is shockingly warm. I’m a Minnesota girl, and I know when a coat is warm or not. It’s a wool blend, so warm enough, but not too itchy or uncomfortable. I like the longer length, it hits about mid-thigh. I don’t like short (waist length) Winter coats because they’re just not warm enough on your butt! I also like the standing collar on this one because you can zip it up around your face for added coziness! Also it zips, so no frigid air is getting through!
As far as sizing, these coats run large so I would recommend sizing down at least one size. If you size down a size it will still be roomy enough to layer a chunky sweater underneath for extra warmth. The fit is boxy, allowing for lots of extra room! The only place where this coat is *slightly* snug on me is in the hips. If you are more narrow in the hips, I would actually size down two full sizes.
You guys know that I am all about the neutrals, so I of course got the grey in this coat (color is actually called Heather Graphite). That being said, there are so many fun colors in this jacket! I love the pink and the green (especially going into Spring!) They also have a pretty camel, a black, and a bright blue. Two of the six colors are marked down to under $90! This is such a steal for this awesome coat!
