On Saturday night, Tony and I got to do a little ‘staycation’ at the W Minneapolis. Even though we live downtown, it was such a fun treat to be able to enjoy our city like a tourist! We have NEVER done a staycation in Minneapolis, but now that we have, we said we should do it twice a year! What do you think?
Saturday night may have been the best night of my life. Why? I MET SAM HUNT! When we were walking in to the W, he was walking out. Can you believe that? I turned to Tony and said, “oh my gosh, that’s Sam Hunt.” I have literally never been so star struck in my entire life. Straight up SHAKING. I was so nervous to go talk to him and I didn’t know what to say, but I did it. I went over to him and asked for a photo. Still shaking at this point, I told him that I was such a big fan, have seen him in concert TWICE, and all that.
Thank you to the W for our stay, but also for allowing me to RANDOMLY run into Sam Hunt. Can you believe it? Literally, what. are. the. odds.
So, here is the proof! I am literally never washing this shirt! This photo is in the lobby of the W (which is super dark) so not a great photo, but will treasure it forever! 🙂
It took me awhile to come down after my Sam Hunt high. It honestly was difficult to focus. But anyway… first stop is top of the Foshay Tower! The W hotel is located inside the historic Foshay Tower. I was most excited to go to the observation deck at the top of the Foshay. I actually have done this before, but not since a field trip in the 5th grade! Too funny! The observation deck also has a really cool museum and Tony was obviously super into the history. I highly recommend checking this out if you are staying at the W! It is free to go up here if you are staying at the hotel, just use your room key to go up to the 30th floor. If you are not staying at the hotel, it is just $10.
After the Foshay, we went to the Prohibition Bar on the 27th floor of the W. I had NO IDEA that this bar was here. It is the perfect place to bring a date for drinks. How have we never done this? It’s a cool speakeasy flapper vibe and I loved it!
Next, it was time for drinks! We went to Key’s which is one of the two restaurants inside the W. It was Happy Hour from 4-7 so we enjoyed some happy hour drinks and appetizers. We loved it so much, we decided to have dinner here too! After dinner, we walked around downtown Minneapolis for awhile. The weather was absolutely perfect and everyone was out and about. It was so nice to just walk around with nowhere to be and not a care in the world.
I put on the comfiest robe and got into bed at 8pm. We felt super lame, but at the same time, how often do you get to relax and watch tv in a hotel room? When we woke up in the morning, Tony used the gym (he wanted to be sure to use all of the amenities!) and I ordered room service. It was the perfect one night staycation. Thank you so much to the W Minneapolis for having us!
