Dear Tony,
We’ve been married for three years! Can you believe it? In a lot of ways, our third year has been my favorite. The past year has been (by far) the least eventful. In the best way possible. No career changes, no deaths, and our family and friends all seem to be in a good place. We’ve had struggles. We’re not perfect. But when you and I face an issue, it’s always me and you versus the problem. Not me versus you. I think that’s one of the secrets to our relationship.
We are such a perfect match and that has shown itself to me more than ever in the past year. You tend to perseverate about every small worry and I bring you down off the cliff. You are outgoing and spirited and the antithesis to my (at times) cold exterior. When something goes wrong, I tend to shut down. I am the absolute worst in crisis. You are the complete opposite, going straight into the fire, jumping into action at first sign of struggle.
At work a few weeks ago, I had to bring a photo in of someone who inspires me, my “inspirational friend.” I chose to bring a photo of you. There is no one in the world who inspires me like you do. You are the most selfless, thoughtful, and brave person I know. You not only inspire me to be a better wife, but a better person. I am so lucky to have you in my life and I am so appreciative of everything you do for me!
Happy Anniversary. I love you very much!
