Being that I am a full-time accountant by day, I know a thing or two about work wear. Because dressing for an office setting is such a big part of my life (and so many of yours!) I decided to incorporate more work wear here on the blog! For the first post I created a work wear capsule for Summer. This post has everything you need for a cute and work appropriate Summer wardrobe. The best part? There are only nine pieces! Nine! Every item in this post can be mixed and matched with every other item to create so many outfit options. I styled six outfits to show you some examples, but the options are endless!
I have a “dress for your day” dress code at work. Sometimes I need to wear a blazer and dress up for a big presentation or interview. Others days I wear jeans because I’ll be sitting at my desk all day. With these nine pieces, I can dress up or down depending on what the day brings. These pieces (most of which are in your closet!) will make getting dressed for work this Summer a breeze.
9 Items For Work This Summer
1 Neutral Dress
I just bought this striped t-shirt dress this Summer. I bought it because it is a great dress for either work or weekend. It’s made of a super soft material and is very comfortable. I love it on it’s own or with a cardigan or jacket over. It looks nice but feels like pajamas. Best of both worlds!
2 Tops (One Black And One White)
Both of these tops are “fancy t-shirts” as I would call them. They are t-shirts but have pretty and details on the sleeves. The black top has polka dots and the white top has lace. The tops look great on their own or with something layered over.
3 Layering Items (Black Blazer, Cardigan, and Denim Jacket)
A black blazer, cardigan, and denim jacket are my go-to work layers. When I want to be casual, I throw the jean jacket on over a dress. When I need to be formal, I can wear the blazer with black pants. My favorite cardigan is this one in blush pink. Get a cardigan in a shade you absolutely love ( blush pink is basically a neutral for me!)
2 Bottoms (Black Pants and Jeans)
As I mentioned, my work has a pretty flexible dress code. Either jeans or black pants will work for pretty much every situation. I love my black cropped pants with the tie-waist. My pants are no longer available but these are super similar. These jeans are my favorite and they are actually from Target. I love the Universal Thread line and they’re super affordable.
1 pair of heels
I think this pair of heels will work for any outfit this Summer. I have worn these heels with a dress, jeans, a suit, you name it! If you are going to buy one pair of shoes for summer, these have to be it. I loved them so much in the nude that I bought a second color.
Summer Work Wear Outfits
As I mentioned, these nine pieces can be worn a million different ways. I styled six of my favorite outfits here, but there are more so get creative! If you stick to neutral colors and versatile pieces, you can mix and match and no one will ever know you are repeating an item. Keep in mind that in all of these outfits, there are only nine pieces!
