Last month I started a new series called ‘Minneapolis Monthly’ where monthly I share one of my favorite spots in Minneapolis. You can see last month’s post here. This month I chose Parallel Coffee.
This coffee shop is new (within the last three months or so) but it’s quickly become my absolute favorite. It’s on the edge of the North Loop in an area I’m not really sure what to call? When people ask where it is I tell them it’s by the Lyndale Farmer’s Market and I feel like that’s the best description. It has a huge parking lot which is extremely rare for cute coffee shops. Although it’s not far from me, it’s nice to hop in the car and be able to get a spot so easily. Inside, the actual coffee shop is very large as well. I have always been able to get a table (and very “Instagram-able” tables I might add!) Parallel definitely kept the warehouse district vibe with the exposed ceilings, lighting, and color scheme. It’s a beautiful spot to work on the computer or chat with friends.
One of my favorite parts about Parallel are the employees. They might have the nicest employees and best customer service of any coffee shop in Minneapolis. A lot of the coffee places around Minneapolis struggle in the service department. At some coffee shops it feels like asking for something is a burden and getting a smile from an employee is a rare occasion. But at Parallel, they are so nice! One time I was there working on a blog post, and I was drinking my iced coffee extremely slowly (just in the zone I guess!) The guy working came over and asked if my coffee was okay because he was afraid I didn’t like it. They are just the best!
The menu is simple but has everything you need. I like to get a latte, cappuccino, or iced coffee. The coffee is very good and pretty reasonable as well. You won’t find any crazy combinations or designs, just really good coffee. My mom and I also ate here one time and it was delicious. They have an assortment of pastries, breakfast sandwiches, and soups and salads. I heard they also have a great happy hour but have not been yet. I recommend stopping in here before a morning at the farmer’s market or spend the day working.
