Happy (almost) Valentine’s Day! I’m sure many of you will be going out to dinner sometime this week to celebrate love. Tony and I love going out to dinner and checking out the Minneapolis restaurant scene, but it’s always so hard to decide on where we are going out to dinner. It’s always, “I don’t care, where do you want to go?” For that reason, I have a list of restaurants on hand (well, on my laptop) of places that I want to go. Whenever we can’t decide, I pull the list out. To make your date night decision a little easier, I put together a list of some of our favorites. I think any of these options would be perfect for a little Valentine’s Day date night.
For Romantic Italian: Bar La Grassa
Bar La Grassa is my favorite Italian in Minneapolis and it pretty much just screams romance. The kitchen is open late (until midnight I think), so go for a late romantic dinner. If you haven’t made reservations anywhere, stopping in here for late night would be super romantic. Get the soft eggs with lobster for a starter and then the gnocchi with cauliflower and orange. Both are exquisite!
For Old School Romance: Murray’s
This is just classic. Order the butter knife steak for two and you won’t be disappointed. It’s $105 but includes all of the traditional supper club fixins’ and has a really swanky atmosphere. If it’s been awhile wince you’ve been there, it’s changed quite a bit after a recent face lift. Murray’s is just timeless!
Get a Room: Restaurant Alma
I have to admit, this is the only restaurant on the list that we haven’t been to, but we are going tomorrow for my birthday! It’s a multi-course tasting menu, so pretty much ideal for a special occasion. The coolest party? They also have a hotel connected. Go on a Friday or Saturday night, get a room, and make it a fun staycation. I will be sure to let you know how it is!
Dinner and a show: 112 Eatery
112 is a great location for downtown activities. For that reason, I would suggest having dinner here and then heading to a broadway show or a fun concert. It is dimly lit, pretty tiny, and just gives me those warm and cozy winter vibes. They also have a killer burger. Grab a seat at the bar (no reservation needed!)
Our Personal Favorite: Spoon and Stable
A hard to get reservation for sure, but do what we do and either go early (4 or 5) or later (9 or 10) and sit in the bar. In the bar area you can order from either the bar menu or the dining menu, so it’s actually the best of both worlds. We love the creamed spinach (it’s topped with cheese curds) and then pretty much everything that Chef Gavin Kaysen touches. The pastries are award winning so definitely order some sweets too. Favorite restaurant in the city!
Outfit Details
I am hoping that this outfit is inspiration for those of you looking for something a little less cheesy for Valentine’s Day. I don’t mean that in a bad way, but pink and lace and ruffles and all of that isn’t for everyone. I paired this top with some fun wide leg pants I just got (similar here). I feel like I should add that it was super windy when I was shooting this, so the pants don’t normally look like that! They were sucked to my legs! Anyway, my bag is a great taupe pink color, for just a hint of Valentine’s Day. I finished off the look with these studded pumps (dupes for the valentino ones) and my earrings are from Rocksbox. If you haven’t heard of Rocksbox, check it out and let me know if you have questions. You can try it for free with code ‘alissaschrankxoxo.’
