A few months ago my friend Sam (also known as Downtown Blondie) reached out to me wanting to know if I would help start the Minneapolis Bloggers Union. She and Claudia from Miles and Smiles were starting this group where bloggers in the Twin Cities could learn, grow, and support each other. I took a few days to think it over, discussed with Tony, and sent a message back to Sam that just said, “I’m in!”
I’ve gotten to know Sam over the past year or so (through blogging) and she is the most bubbly and sweet person. I knew she would be a great person to partner with. I recently got to know Claudia (who had this dream and vision in the first place) and she is the ultimate girl boss. We all are so different and make an unstoppable trio. I became the Events Officer; Sam became the Social Media officer; and Claudia the Sponsorships Officer.
We had our very first event on January 28th at Brick x Mortar in Minneapolis. Brick x Mortar is a boutique invitation-only shared workspace and social club located in the top two floors of a historic brownstone. It is an absolutely stunning space, perfect for meetings, events, or even a small wedding. The space and décor is impeccable, making it the perfect backdrop for bloggers to snap some outfit photos. The event coordinator at Brick x Mortar actually used to be the coordinator at the venue where we got married, so I knew we were in great hands. She was absolutely great to work with.
Claudia, Sam, and I planned a mimosa brunch for about 20 bloggers. We picked 20 bloggers from the area who we thought would help us get some traction and also spread the word about the Minneapolis Bloggers Union. The main topic of conversation was what each of us wants to get out of this group. What do we want to learn? Can we teach each other? What businesses do we want to work with? What activities do we want to do? All of the ladies had such great energy, it made us even more excited that we created this group.
Rise Bagels provided the delicious bagels and cream cheeses. If you know me, you know that bagels are my absolutely favorite food, and Rise Bagel is the best in Minneapolis (and is in my own neighborhood!) Risata Wines provided the bubbly for mimosas, because what is brunch without mimosas? Thank you thank you for feeding us and for the wine! Carly from Carly Mac Photography and Angel Torres (Claudia’s hubby) captured photos of the day so perfectly. Thank you so much to them as well.
I met with Claudia and Sam again yesterday to discuss some of the fun things we have in store. Our meeting actually inspired me to write this post! I thought, I need to share with everyone all of the amazing things we are doing! Claudia and Sam are the best partners and friends to be working with. If you are a blogger and would like to join us, register here! I would love to learn and grow with you!
