Hi and happy Wednesday! I thought it would be fun to start doing ‘Work wear Wednesday’ posts of sorts. You all love when I post work outfits, so I would like to talk more about that together! I work in a professional setting (in finance) and I have a ‘dress for your day’ dress code. If I have important meetings, interviews, etc. I dress more business casual. When I have a lot of work at my desk or more casual meetings within the accounting department, I can dress casually. I like to buy pieces that can work for either scenario. A camel blazer is a perfect example of a piece that can be dressed up or dressed down. A nice blazer is more of an ‘investment piece,’ so you want to get good wear out of it!
J.Crew Factory Camel Blazer
Let’s start by discussing the camel blazer. This blazer is the ‘Schoolboy Blazer’ from J.Crew Factory. I find that it’s pretty similar to the ‘Parke’ blazer from J.Crew, but it’s half the price. It comes in camel, navy, and black, which are all good options for the office. I personally prefer the camel because it’s something that can look more casual than a navy or a black. As far as sizing, I got a size 10 regular. I typically wear either an 8 or a 10, so if you are between sizes I would size up one size. I wish I would have ordered the petite, because the sleeves are pretty long (the lining is super cute though when you roll the sleeves up!) Because I’m 5’5″, I’m not really a true petite, but in this blazer I would get a petite if you are in the middle.
This blazer is normally $98, but is marked down right now to $87. They have a deal going on where if you spend $100+ you get 30% off with code NEWTHINGS.
How to Style the Camel Blazer for Work
Black Jeans
Jeans may not be appropriate for all work environments, but even when I need to get dressed up, jeans with a nice top is typically fine. I think black jeans also can be dressed up much more than blue jeans. These are the Topshop Sidney jeans. I cut the hem off myself because I like the raw hem look. The fit is true to size.
White Dress Shirt
Obsessed with this white shirt! I have been on the hunt for the perfect white dress shirt FOREVER and alas, I found it! Every shirt I tried had something wrong with it: too boxy, too fitted, the buttons pulled on the chest, it was too wrinkly, etc. This Uniqlo white button-down is EVERYTHING. Tony and I stopped into the Chicago store when we were there a few weeks ago and it was love at first sight. It comes in multiple colors, and it’s marked down to just $20!! I may have to get more colors!
Leopard Flats
These leopard flats are old (from Target) but there are so many fun similar styles right now. I really like these leopard ballet flats that Target has this season. A fun shoe or accessory is fun with work outfits because it adds a little flair. I like how leopard really ties in the camel and the black and the bag as well.
How to Style the Camel Blazer for Fun
Distressed Jeans
Blue jeans are always a great casual look, and with the lighter wash and distressing, these are super casual and fun. These jeans are also Topshop, they are the ‘Jamie Ripped Jeans‘ and are some of my favorites!
White Sneakers
White sneakers like this bring me right back to my elementary school and middle school days where we wore Adidas Allstars, Vans, and other white platform options as well. I kind of love that these are having a comeback. I have to admit, I never thought I would be back in a pair of white Adidas! Sizes are going quick in these, but multiple sizes still available. I wear an 8.5 in these (true to size).
Black Crossbody
This bag is one of my go-to bags, and you can see me wearing it all the time. I love the black chain and more modern style. I like that it adds a little edge to any outfit. It’s only $88 (a steal for Rebecca Minkoff!) She makes great quality bags and you really can’t go wrong with any of her styles.
