This is my first ‘Minneapolis Monthly’ that isn’t actually in Minneapolis, but I think I’m okay with that. I will keep it to the metro area, how about that? Bellecour, the darling of Downtown Wayzata, is the French restaurant by my favorite Minneapolis chef, Gavin Kaysen. Gavin has won multiple awards (including a James Beard) and is one of Minneapolis’ finest for sure. He came to my work recently (we bring in interesting speakers every once in awhile) and I realized it had been a while since I had been to either one of his restaurants. Tony made reservations for us at Bellecour for brunch last Saturday and it was every bit as good as I remember.
We ordered an obscene amount of food. Our server was even a bit surprised at our order (hah!) We started with the quiche and the duck crepe. The quiche was easily the best I have ever had. I was a little apprehensive about the duck crepe because I am not super into mushrooms, but it was fabulous. Our “second course” lol was the burger. I love burgers (one of my favorite foods) and Bellecour did not disappoint. My favorite burger might still be Parlour? But this Bellecour burger is right up there. We finished with their signature crepe cake, which is just as tasty as it is beautiful. Special shoutout to Diane Yang, their pastry chef. She has also won many awards, and is obviously behind the amazing crepe cake.
If you are hosting Thanksgiving, or need to bring a dish to Thanksgiving, you can actually pre-order items from Bellecour! Think pies, breads, pastries, gravy, and more!
