I constantly find myself either watching TV or scrolling through social media instead of reading. Does anyone else feel like that? I read on planes and at the beach, but at home it is such. a. struggle. To help motivate myself to read more this summer, I made a list of 5 books that sounded interesting to read during Summer 2017. 5 books is reasonable right?
2017 Summer Reading List
because i wanted something funny
because in minnesota everyone loves hockey
because we went to charleston
because i loved ‘the girl on the train’
because i love a ‘parent trap’ type plot
The only book i have read so far is Same Beach, Next Year. This book takes places near Charleston (Isle of Palms if you are familiar with the area) and it was a perfect beach read while down there a few weeks ago. What are you guys reading? Do you have any other book recommendations? Getting through 5 is going to be a struggle for me, but I am all ears if you know of some great ones! Also here are the links to my summer tote bag and my beach sandals. Happy reading!

Great list! I will have to keep these in mind. I have been feeling the same way about TV and social media and am trying to read more! I read Me and Mrs. Kennedy (written by Jackie Kennedy’s secret service agent) and am reading Everything We Keep now (so I can read the sequel that just came out!).

I love this list. As I get ready to move continents in just a couple of weeks, I’m going to have some long flights and need some readying to keep me busy and engage me during the stretches of time.

Good idea! I love reading while traveling, but I struggle to do it at home!

This looks like a great list. I just picked up SOUTH POLE STATION by local author, Ashley Shelby. Published just on July 3rd, it seems to be getting a lot of great reviews. Your list for the summer looks pretty full, but I thought I’d mention Ashley’s book because sometimes reading about the South Pole when it’s 97 degrees outside might be like a no-calorie ice cream sundae. Thanks for the post!

I love that idea! Love supporting local authors too 🙂

Thanks for the rec’s. I am an avid reader but have been in a real book slump as of late. I really need a book that sucks me in!

It’s so hard to read in the summer! I’ve had a stack of 3 books on my nightstand forever. The struggle is real. Thanks for sharing these great pics! I really need to get back into it!

I think that five books is perfectly reasonable! I need to get on my reading…I’ve only finished 1 1/2 books so far this summer!
