it’s june 1st! do you know what that means? wedding season! june is the most popular month to get married (you’re looking at a june bride right here!) and it’s time to get your wardrobe ready. i put together some of my tips to being the best dressed wedding guest this wedding season.
my 5 tips to being the best dressed wedding guest
don’t take away from the bride!
there should only be one white dress in the room, okay? absolutely do not wear any shade of white. i would also try not to wear anything that draws a lot of attention to yourself. you never want to upstage the bride.
dress for the occasion.
is the wedding black-tie? if so, absolutely nothing higher than the knee. is the wedding outside? stick to a wedge so you don’t sink into the grass. i also live by the rule that you can never be over-dressed. it is way better to be over-dressed than under-dressed. pay attention to the invitation so you know what attire is preferred.
keep it classy!
don’t bare it all. i would pick just one asset to show off. this is someone’s wedding after all! do you have nice legs? maybe a shorter dress that has long sleeves. do you have a nice back? maybe a dress with an open back. i love to show off my shoulders and neckline, so this summer i will be wearing an off-the-shoulder at every opportunity! totally on-trend for summer too!
avoid looking like a bridesmaid.
try to find out what color dress the bridesmaids are wearing and avoid wearing that color. if you don’t know what color they are wearing, i tend to stay away from solids in gray, navy, purple, etc. as these are super popular for bridesmaids!
have fun!
weddings are a fun time to play up your accessories, shoes, and bag. it’s also fun to dress for the season. spring garden wedding? try a flowy floral dress and some espadrilles. winter wedding in minnesota? a fur cape is a must!
my must haves for wedding season:
strappy nude heels
a fun and flirty dress
a cute clutch or shoulder bag
