It’s almost Nordstrom Anniversary Sale time! This is my favorite sale of the season and I look forward to it every July. I’ve covered it the last few years and was debating on whether or not to cover it this year. The reason being that I’m 9 months pregnant (lolz) and will not be able to try-on jeans, tops, etc. and was worried that I wouldn’t be helpful. That being said, I am still shopping the sale for myself (for Fall postpartum wear mainly) and I know there are others that are doing the same. I’ve noticed a lot of new followers that are pregnant or new moms (which I love!) and so I can still be helpful to you all! I also have a lot of favorites (that I won’t be able to wear this year) that I won’t be able to hold back sharing!
WHAT IS SO GREAT ABOUT THIS SALE?
Most online sales are old product that retailers are trying to sell through before the next season. Not a secret right? The #nsale has brand-new fall and winter items. and all for a fraction of the cost. After the sale is over, the items go back to full price. But all of the good items sell out (extremely fast).
WHY IS EVERY BLOGGER TALKING ABOUT IT?
I’m sure you have noticed every single blogger you follow is covering the Nordstrom Anniversary sale. I like to be fully transparent and I also think it’s kind of interesting to hear about the blogger business. So in the interest of full transparency, bloggers make about a 10% commission on the Nordstrom sale. It can be one of the highest revenue generating months of the entire year! That is why you see so many bloggers posting about it. That being said, the sale really is that good and we are all shopping the sale for ourselves right along with you! To get early access on Friday, you need to have a Nordstrom card. If you are not a cardholder, you can apply here. Please note that you MUST use your Nordstrom card to purchase. This is a change from previous years. In the past I would just login to my Nordstrom account and then pay with a different method. This year, you must actually use the Nordstrom card. If you apply now, you obviously will not have the card in time. I have heard from Nordstrom customer service that you can still use the card without physically having it. Early access is important because things sell out. The popular brands in the Nordstrom Anniversary sale are pretty consistent year-over-year. Brands like Nike, Alo, Rag & Bone, etc. sell out every year and they typically DO NOT re-stock. So if you have your heart set on something (maybe you’ve already seen it in the catalog) you should get the card. Nordstrom brands (like BP) typically do not sell out and do get re-stocks. Other areas that typically do not sell-out are men’s and kids. I plan to shop for baby stuff but will probably wait until the regular access.
WHAT AM I SHOPPING FOR THIS YEAR?
As I mentioned, this year is a little bit different for me. I am 9 months pregnant (at the start of the sale) and will have a newborn sometime during the sale! I will be shopping for a little bit different of items than usual.
Things I am shopping for:
- Nursing-friendly tops (anything with buttons, cardigans, etc.)
- Comfy/lounge type wear for maternity leave
- Baby gear and clothes (I will know the gender during the sale!)
- Fall Boots (not post-partum related but I want some new ones!)
- Anything else that grabs my eye

WHAT I AM LOVING FOR POST-PARTUM
I am looking specifically for items that button and unbutton easily for nursing and that are just comfy/cozy for being a brand new mom on maternity leave this Fall. I love the idea of anything oversized, lots of cardigans, and lots of buttons!

In Minnesota you literally need like 9 pairs of boots and every year some pairs get ruined. I pretty much always buy a pair of boots in the sale (bought Tory Burch ones a few years ago) and will probably do so again! I hope I can try them on my swollen feet and get a good idea of if they fit!
