Rosie is now 10 weeks old! At what age does is she not considered a newborn anymore? Wait, don’t tell me (cue the tears!) Can’t she stay a newborn forever? There are a bunch of newborn products that have gotten us through the past ten weeks. The newborn stage is rough! Hopefully some of these newborn products can make your life a bit easier!
Soothie Pacifiers // Wubbanub
These pacifiers are the only ones that Rosie will take now. I like that you can put your finger into it and the baby is sort of sucking on your finger (I think Rosie likes this too). They are also just one piece of silicon which is safe and easy to clean. The Wubbanub has the same pacifier attached to it. We have both the elephant and the lion, and she loves these too. The Wubbanub is nice because it doesn’t fall out as easily and Rosie can kind of grab and play with it.
Cairn Co. Changing Mat
I am obsessed with this changing mat! It is more affordable than the Gathre brand, but very similar if you’re familiar with that mat. To clean, you just wipe it down and you don’t need to wash it (my favorite part!) It folds up really easily so you can put it in your diaper bag or purse. I also love the look of it. It’s very minimalist and stylish, unlike other changing mats I have seen. It may be kind of surprising, but is one of my favorite newborn products and may be my go-to baby gifts going forward.
Baby Bjorn Bouncer
This is a newborn product that I was not convinced we needed in the beginning. I went ahead and bought it before Rosie was born and I am really glad I did. We use this EVERY DAY. It lives in our bathroom because it’s the best way to keep Rosie busy while we are going to the bathroom, showering, etc. The bouncer is light and easy to move from room to room (unlike a swing, for example). The cover comes off to easily wash it when the baby has a blow out.
Baby Shusher
I finally pulled the trigger on one of these and I wished I would have bought it weeks ago. It makes the “shush” sound for either 15 or 30 minutes so that you don’t have to! We put it in her crib or in her stroller and it really seems to calm her down. It’s pretty small and portable so you can really bring it anywhere. Of all of the newborn products, this is the one that surprised me the most – it’s a must have!
Uppa Baby Vista Stroller with Mesa Car seat
I’ve posted about our stroller A LOT but I can’t say enough good things about it. We wanted a system that could accommodate multiple children (god willing!) and this one can fit up to 3. There are three different seats you can hook into the base – the car seat (Mesa), the bassinet, and the toddler seat. The stroller comes with both the bassinet and the toddler seat (car seat is separate). The bassinet is sleep safe and Rosie has actually slept several nights in it (2 for 1!) The stroller is also so pretty! We have the white color. My favorite part may be the pretty brown handles.
Little Remedies Gas Drops
These are a god send! Rosie seems to be more gassy than the average baby and our pediatrician recommended these drops. You give them to your baby in a syringe type thing and it works in minutes! I think it’s basically the baby equivalent of GasX. We have re-purchased these 3 or 4 times since she was born.
Boppy Pillow
This pillow was recommended by a friend of mine and we used it A TON, especially in the first 2 months. It’s really nice to put Rosie on here to just chill in the living room. I also like to put her on here when I am giving her a bottle and I am not able to hold her (usually because I am pumping!) Rosie is not the best napper, but I could see babies taking naps on this as well.
Comotomo Bottles
I posted about these on Instagram too, but these quickly became my favorite bottles. These bottles are supposed to be shaped the most “breast-like,” so it’s great for breastfed babies. It’s also a slow-flow bottle, so the baby doesn’t get too much milk and thus prefer the bottle to breastfeeding. We started bottles at 4 weeks and Tony loves giving them to Rosie. It’s his favorite part of the day.
Boon Bottle Drying Rack
We love this drying rack for drying all of the bottle and pump parts. It’s nice to keep all of the baby stuff separate from our other dishes. I also like that this one is a bit stylish and looks nice sitting out on your counter. There is a green option as well, but the nice is much more chic! Make sure to get the large size because you will appreciate the extra space.
